Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Nanjing (-/ L/ -)
Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province of China, is a city with a history of 2,500 year, tracing back to the Warring States Period in the Chinese history. Today, you will visit this ancient and modern city. In the morning, you will visit Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum. Dr. Sun was a pioneer of Chinese democratic revolution. The mausoleum, shaped like an alarm bell, is built at the foot of Purple Gold Mountain. Then go to see the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, which is the first bridge to be built across the Yangze River in China.
In the afternoon you will visit the Gate of China-the largest city door in China as well as the best-preserved and most intricate city door in the world. Later you will pay a visit to Confucius Temple. Scholars came to the temple to pray for success and demonstrate their humble respect for Confucius. The temple's most outstanding feature is a beautiful collection of 36 jade panels detailing the Sage's life (551-479 BC) hanging on the walls of the main hall. Finally you will enjoy the beautiful scenery along Qinhuai River, which is a branch of the Yangtze River, running about 110 kilometers, a major watercourse around Nanjing City.
