Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival / Nyingchi (-/ L/ D)
Upon arrive in Nyingchi, you’ll be driven to Basomtso. Basomtso is 15 kilometers long, and the deepest parts of the lake reach 166 meters. The lake is a crescent covering 27 sq kilometers. Around the lake, there are both snow-capped mountains and mountains dotted with evergreen trees. It is viewed by the local Tibetan people as the holy lake of the Nyingmapa (Red) Sect. On the islet at the center of Baksum Tso Lake, there is an ancient monastery constructed in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Ferrying across the lake to the islet is a great fun. The snow-capped mountains, crystal-clear water and lush vegetation add much charm to this mysterious land. Indulged in such beautiful scenery, you will feel like living in a fairyland. In the evening, you will stay in the hotel in Nyingchi.
Day 2: Nyingchi / Bome / Ranwu (-/ L/ D)
After breakfast, you will visit the Giant Cypress Forest. The king cypress, which is more than 2,500 years old, is nearly 50m high and 5.8m thick. As the largest and oldest tree in the forest, it is believed to be the 'life tree' of Tonpa Shenrab, founder of Bon. Then head for the the LuLang Forest Sea. LuLang means Dragon King Valley or Forget Home Valley. In summer, the whole area will be covered by flowers. It is also one of the best spot to watch the Nanmche Barwa. Nanche Barwa is 7786m and the No 15th highest mountain in the world. It is also the highest mountain in Nyingchi Area. The Yarlung Tsangpo River makes a sharp turn right across it. Finally you will reach Ranwu via Bome. Stay overnight in Ranwu.
Day 3: Ranwu (-/ L/ D)
Drive to the fantastic Ranwu Lake, 89km southwest of Basu County. Ranwu Lake is the main headstream of Palongzangbu River-a branch of Yaluzangbu River. Laigu Glacier stands to the north of Ranwu Lake. It stretches to the lakeside. When the ice thaws, the snow water will empty into the lake. So Ranwu Lake ofter has abundant water. The Ranwu Lake is a perfect blending of the Swiss Alps snow peaks and glaciers and the streams in Jiuzaigou (a pretty town in central China). The lake, 3,800 meters above the sea level, has a water area of 22 square kilometers. The melted snow and ice supply the lake with sufficient water. The green grassland around the lake, the sky-blue lake water and the white snow mountains constitute a very pretty watercolor. Afterwards, drive back.
Day 4: Ranwu / Bome / Bayi Town (B/L/D)
Today, drive to Bome and Bayi Town. Get up early to take beautiful pictures of Ranwu Lake at sunrise. Then drive to Midui Glacier, which is formed from two large waterfalls. There is a virgin forest between them. You will also enjoy the idyllic scenery of Midui Village. The scenery along the road from Ranwu to Bome is so fantastic that you can take pictures at any time on the way. You can enjoy the fantastic view of Palongzangbu River Valley and virgin forest. Then drive back to Bayi Town to have a rest.
Day 5: Bayi Town-Niyang River Scenic Area-Bayi Town (B/L/D)
You have two chioces for today's trip.
The fist choice:
Get up early, and then drive to the center port. Take the most advanced idyllic yacht at the Center Port. Have a Yaluzangbu River cruise to enjoy the fantastic view of Yaluzangbu River Grand Canyon. Go downstream towards the Pai Town. Then go ahead to Zhibai. On the way you can visit the Ganazhubu Monastery, Daduka Castle Relics. You can also have a hot spring bath if you like. You can enjoy the amazing scenery of Mt. Namjagbarwa and No.1 and No.2 Big Bend of Yaluzangbu River at Zhibai village. Finally go back to Bayi Town.
Road condition:
The road from Bayi Town to Center Port is earth road. (40km, 1 hour drive)
Grand Canyon Cruise-110km, 2 hour-come and go
The second choice:
In the morning drive to Zhibai Village. On the way you can visit the Ganazhubu Monastery, Daduka Castle Relics. You can also have a hot spring bath if you like. You can enjoy the amazing scenery of Mt. Namjagbarwa and No.1 and No.2 Big Bend of Yaluzangbu River at Zhibai village. Finally go back to Bayi Town.
Road condition:
The road from Pai Town to Zhibai Village is earth road. (Round-trip takes about 2-hour drive, 300km)
