Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Badaling Great Wall (-, L, -)
You will be picked up from your hotel after your breakfast. Then drive 85 km to the Badaling Great Wall, one of the most magnificent sections of the Great Wall in Beijing. You will hike the east part of the Badaling Great Wall for 2-3 hours. Get down and drive to the Juyongguan Pass Great Wall located 20 km south of the Badaling Great Wall. Check-in at Juyongguan Great Wall Hotel located under the Great Wall at Juyongguan.
Day 2: Juyongguan Pass Great Wall, Huanghuacheng Great Wall (-, L, -)
After breakfast in the morning, your hiking today begins here leisurely with the 2-3 hour's hike across the west section of the Juyongguan Pass Great Wall. The Juyongguan Pass Great Wall is narrow and steep and you will walk the west part of the Great Wall for its beautiful views of the Great Wall and challenging hiking. After lunch, drive 40 km to the Huanghuacheng Reservoir. Walking along the reservoir to enjoying the fantastic view of the Great Wall at Huanghuacheng. Huanghuacheng Great Wall is divided into three segments naturally by the Jintang Lake under it. This section is not officially opened to the public yet and people have to walk around and see the Great Wall at a distance. Then you will check-in at Huanghuacheng Fuwang Courtyard Farmhouse. This inn is just located under the Great Wall at Huanghuacheng.
Day 3: Mutianyu Great Wall (-, L, -)
After breakfast in the morning, you will check out. Walk close to the uncleared Huanghuacheng Great Wall for a nice view and then drive 35 km along the mountain road and get to the Mutianyu Great Wall which is densely wooded with fantastic natural views. Hiking the Mutianyu Great Wall for 3-4 hours. Come down the wall and drive to the Jinshanling Great Wall. Stay at Jinshanling Hotel under the Jinshanling Great Wall.
Day 4: Jinshanling Great Wall (-, L, -)
After breakfast, you start your hike from the east section of Jinshanling Great Wall to the west section of Simatai Great Wall which is about 12 km and takes about 4-5 hours traveling across 30 towers. Then get down the wall at the foot of Simatai and check-in at a local inn - Simatai Great Wall Courtyard Hotel under the Simatai Great Wall. Take a bath and have good relaxation to refresh yourself.
Day 5: Simatai Great Wall (-, L, -)
After breakfast in the morning, you will trek the east section of the Simatai Great Wall which takes about 2-3 hours. There are in total sixteen watchtowers built at intervals along this part and it will take about 2-3 hours to reach the twelfth watchtower. The condition of the stairs and walkways of this section of the Great Wall is poor and the passage becomes both steep and narrow. This means that it is often much safer to walk on the adjacent footpath rather than try to walk on the Great Wall itself. Then you will have at local farmhouse restaurant and return to your hotel downtown Beijing later afternoon.
