Day 1: Mutianyu Great Wall, Bird's Nest, Water Cube (-, L, -)
After breakfast in the morning, your tour starts excitedly from Mutianyu Great Wall located in Huairou County 70km (about 45 miles) northeast of Beijing. The Great Wall is a symbol of Chinese civilization and was listed among the New Seven Wonders of the World. Mutianyu Great Wall, one of the best-preserved parts of the Great Wall, winds 1.4 miles through lofty mountains and high ridges and was built mainly with granite. It has the largest construction scale and best quality among all sections of Great Wall. If you want to reach the highest point, cable car is avaliable (optional).
After you enjoy the wonder of ancient China, you will then proceed to the "Bird's Nest", also known as National Stadium which is the world's largest steel structure. It is a key competition venue of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the 13th Paralympic Games. The stadium looks like a nest from the outside, symbolizing a cradle holding the hopes of mankind for the future.
Then you will move to the Water Cube or the National Aquatics Center next to the "Bird's Nest". Comprising a steel space frame, it is the largest ETFE(a kind of plastic that has high corrosion resistance and strength over a wide temperature range) clad structure in the world with over 100,000 m² of ETFE pillows.
