Haikou (Chinese: 海口; pinyin: Hǎikǒu) is the capital of Hainan Province, China's second largest island. As the capital of Hainan Island, Haikou is the provincial administrative center of Hainan as well being the focus of the local economy, culture and transportation. Due to its streets lined with coconut palms, Haikou is also known as the "Coconut City".

Situated at the north of Hainan Island, Haikou is different from other cities in China for it with the sea on three sides. Having a long coastline which features excellent bathing beaches and sea side resorts, Haikou is an attractive and popular city.
