Harbin(Chinese: 哈尔滨; pinyin: Hāěrbīn) is the capital of the Heilongjiang Province in Northeast China. It lies on the southern bank of the Songhua River. Harbin is ranked as the tenth largest city in China, serving as a key political, economic, scientific, cultural and communications center of Northeastern China.

Harbin is originally a Manchu word meaning "a place for drying fishing nets". Harbin bears the nicknames "The Pearl on the swan's neck" because the shape of Heilongjiang resembles a swan. Under the influence of neighboring Russia, it is often referred to as the "Oriental Moscow" for the architecture in the city. Assimilating external culture, Harbin created its unique and exotic cityscape. The majestic St. Sofia Orthodox Church and Zhongyang Dajie each built in a European style. Even though the various exotic buildings, the Dragon Tower which embodies the wisdom of the Chinese people is also attractiv, which is a must on the journey to Harbin.
