
Pingliang (Chinese: 平凉;pinyin: píngliáng) is a sleepy town, hidden in the hills in a mountainous region near the Gansu-Ningxia border. Situated in the upper valley of the Jing River, which is a tributary of the Wei River, it was one of the headstreams of Chinese civilization that was inhabited by human ancestors 200-300 thousand years ago. Pingliang is famous for a local mountain range that includes Kongtong Mountain.
