Kanas Lake

Embraced by snow-capped mountains and the deep forests, Kanas Lake is one of the deepest lakes of China.

(Chinese: 喀纳斯湖；pinyin: kānàsīhú): Embraced by snow-capped mountains and the deep forests, Kanas Lake is the deepest freshwater lake of China with the deepest point of 188.5 meters, and sets at 1370 m (4490 ft) in the glorious Altai mountains. It is the only area where animals and plants of South Siberia species can be found in China and there are 798 kinds of plants, of which 30 kinds are rare plants, 39 kinds of animals, 117 kinds of birds and 7 kinds of fishes here. The area is wonderful for walking, and boat trips are available on the lake.
