Folk Culture Village(Chinese: 民俗文化村, pinyin: Mínsú Wénhuà Cūn) has gained the good reputation of "folk custom museum of China" with the generous connotation of "24 stockaded villages, 56 clan conditions and customs ". It is located at Nanshan District of Overseas Chinese Town, Shenzhen. 24 stockaded villages consist of the Folk Culture Village which are built up at a ratio of 1:1.
China is a big and united family made up of 56 ethnic groups which are distributed in different parts of China owning different customs, architectures, festivals, foods and so on. Now, they get together in the Folk Culture Village which is the first spot in China one can learn of the folk cultures of China.
In the village, you can visit the distinctive architecture of ethnic groups; join their brilliant festival, enjoy the performance played by real performers of every ethnic group at any times, of whose you can feel the original traditional folk flavors.
In particular, Oriental Rainbow-colored Costumes at the central theater in the afternoon and Dancing with the Dragon and Phoenix in the Phoenix Theater in the evening are the most wonderful and you had better not lose them.
There are abundant performances in the festival of the minorities. The famous festivals include the Torch Festival, the Water-sprinkling Festival and so on. The Torch Festival is the most traditional event of the Yi ethnic group and held in the sixth month of the Chinese lunar calendar. Tourists will see the Yi people in bright garments carrying torches as they walk around their houses and farmlands. Every month it will celebrate the Water-sprinkling Festival, visitors can sing and dance happily with the minorities through the water. You can experience lots of different from joining in their festivals.
All the minorities' unique and antique architecture boast in the village. You can see the torii, Beijing's central courtyard, the bamboo tower of Dai Minority and the famous "Wind and Rain Bridge" of Dong Minority. Beside of these, you can also buy some handicrafts, taste local foods or learn manufacturing the folk handicrafts. |
