Great Wall of Han Dynasty
|
It is the only part of the Great Wall that was made of earth with reed. |
| Great Wall of Han Dynasty (Chinese: 汉长城;pinyin: hànchángchéng) was generally believed traversed the Hexi Corridor, the region in the west of the Yellow River to the West Lake in Dunhuang. The emperor Han Wudi ordered a construction project of the Great Wall in 127 BC. This resulted in rebuilding an older part of the Wall and an extension of territories to present day Mount Yinshan of Inner Mongolia. This is the only part of the Great Wall that was made of earth with reed. Blocks were built individually and separately in order to make the great wall join together. It looks like a dragon winding its way comfortably in the far-flung desert. The wall ruin in Dunhuang is over 150 kilometers long. For thousands of years it has been tested by the sandstorm and the gale in the Gobi, and is still standing gorgeously and proudly with its splendid history of warlords, expansions and constructions. |
