| The Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Chinese: 大雁塔; pinyin: Dàyàn Tǎ), a symbol of the city Xi’an, is one of the best-known Buddhist pagoda in China, the pagoda was built in 652 A.D. in the Tang Dynasty to house the Buddhist scriptures brought back from India by the traveling monk Xuan Zang. Located on the southern suburb of Xi'an, about 4 kilometers from the civic center, the famous pagoda stands in what was formerly called “the Temple of Great Maternal Grace” or Ci’en Temple in Chinese. The Da Ci'en Temple is an elegant structure, it cover with it owns the unique appearance and originality of its architecture are one of the finest in China. It is seven-story building, with a brick-wood structure and about 64 meters heigh. Standing on a terrace, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda looks impressive. It offers a full view of the ancient Xi’an City when one climbs to the top of the pagoda. |
