Dishui Cave

Dishui Cave is famous that Chairman Mao had lived there for 11 days.

Dishui Cave (Chinese:滴水洞; pinyin: Dī Shuǐ Dòng) was named as “Western Cave” by Maozedong, Chairman Mao. The cave was built on July, 18 of 1966. Maozedong spent 11 days there during the time he returned to Shaoshan. Due to Maozedong’s legendary life and stories, the cave is very famous.

Dishui Cave, located in the deep valley on the west of Laomu Mountain, is 7.5 kilometers south of Benxi urban area, 3 kilometers away from the Chairman Mao's Residence and surrounded by green mountains. A clear stream going through the rocks on the mountain pours downward from cliffs about 30 meters high to form the waterfall. A water curtain can be seen with murmuring stream and small drops when it rains less. There are five caves with different sizes on the wall of valley bottom. The gorgeous and dangerous landscape can take your breath away in astonishment when cliffs, precipices, waterfall, rainbow, blue sky and white cloud are viewed at a glance from the bottom upward. Being overlooked from the top, the huge rocks wildly spread and disorderly displayed at the bottom of the valley form a peculiar style.
