East Qing Tombs
|
East Qing Tombs is one of the largest existing tombs with better design and reasonable layout in China. |
East Qing Tombs (Chinese: 清东陵; pinyin: Qīngdōnglíng) is the biggest, most unique and with the most funerary people of three famous Imperial Tombs in Qing Dynasty.
The East Qing Tombs is located in Zunhua City, reputed as a world Culture Site and a national 4-A tourist Scenic area. It looks majestic with the huge and refined buildings. In the tomb, the Changrui Hill behind shaped like a green curtain, the Gold Star Hill in the south like a person holding a jade tablet, the Yingbi Hill in the middle like a desk to write on, the Yingfeidaoyang Hill in the east like a green dragon and the Huanghua Hill in the west like a white tiger crouching.
5 emperors, 15 empresses, 136 imperial concubines, 3 princes and 2 princesses were buried in the East Qing Tombs. The emperors include Shunzhi who was the first emperor when the Manzu ruled the whole of China, Kangxi who created a prosperous age, and Qianlong who was a perfect emperor in both literary writing and military strategy. The empresses include Xiaozhuang, who assisted two emperors in governing China, Cixi, who attended to state affairs behind the bamboo curtain, and imperial concubine Xiangfei. In addition, here are emperors Xianfeng and Tongzhi and some others.
Some tombs of the East Qing Tombs were built with gold, stone and wood which are rarely seen today. |
