Fu Bo Hill Park

Fubo Hill, located northeast of the city, on the west bank of the Li River, where you can see lots of rock stone carvings & Buddha statues created since the Tang Dynasty. You also have a wonderful bird's-eye view of the whole city if you climb to the summit.

Fubo hill(chinese: 伏波山, Pinyin: Fúbōshān) is the best place to see the city. Around 330 stone steps on the left side of the hill will lead you to the summit where you can have a nice bird-eye view of the whole city.

The Fubo Hill stands solitarily in the northeast of the city, with half of it in the Li River. On the eastern side of the hill are a winding corridor facing the river, a teahouse and a "Tingtao (Listening to the Waves)Pavilion" built along the cliff of the hill. On the west side, a flight of stone steps leads to the Kuishui Pavilion which is half way up the hill, and then to the top.

At the foot of the hill are the "Pearl-returning Cave"and "A Thousand Buddhas Cave". Many Buddhist statues of Tang and Song Dynasty and thousands of stone inscriptions inside the cave will help you to understand how popular is the Fubo hill park in ancient time and today as well. In the "Pearl-returning Cave", there hangs from the ceiling a rock which nearly touches the ground. Legend has it that once a general name Fu Po tested his sword by cutting what was originally a stone pillar and has left a crevice at the bottom ever since then. In the "One Thousand Buddhas Cave", there are in fact 200 Buddhas statues. Becaus of the beautiful sight and its peculiar caves, the hill is praised highly as "Fu Po Resort".

There are still some manmade objects in the park such as the big ancient bell and big cooking pot of Qing Dynasty. It takes normally 45-60 minutes to visit the park.
