| (Chinese: 龙宫洞;pinyin: lónggōngdòng): Dragon Palace Cave is a magnificent underground cave system with lakes, waterfalls and stalactites, covering an area almost 60 square kilometers (about 23 square miles). It comprises a 15 km (9 miles) long complex of 90 or more caves, connected by the longest underground river in China. On the right of the Dragon Gate is a 45-meter waterfall, while above the 43-meter deep Tianchi (Heaven Pool), also known as Dragon Pool measures over ten thousand square meters. It is the source of Dragon Gate Falls and the entrance of Dragon Palace. Olny six caves are open to exploration. Tour boats are used to take the visitors to enjoy the magnificent views in the caves. The caves are filled with colorfully-lit stalactites and stalagmites, and numerous oddly-shaped rock formations. This scenic spot mainly includes four parts: the Rape Lake, the Whirlpool, the Leech Pass and the Dragon Palace. The cave is absolutely beautiful and should not be missed by any visitor to Guizhou Province. |
