Huangshi Fort (Chinese: 黄石寨; pinyin: Huáng Shí Zhài) is the best platform to view the beautiful scenes of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.
Huangshi Fort, located in the central of the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, named after a hermit Huangshi, is 1,080 meters above the sea level and covering an area of 16.5 hectares. It provides the largest collection of marvelous spectacles and also provides the largest sightseeing terrace above sea level in Zhangjiajie. A saying goes that: “One can’t say that he has visited Zhangjiajie without reaching Huangshi Fort.”
The main scenic spots include Treasure Box of Heavenly Books, Tranquil Trail in Fir Woods, Needle Peak, the Southern Gate to Heaven, Five-Finger Peak and so on.
If you stand on the terrace and watch as far as you can towards the south, you can see all kinds of queer pinnacles. If you watch towards the east, you can see numerous grotesque peaks by the Golden Whip Stream which resemble a clear, crystalline jadeite. To sum up, watching mountains on Huangshi Fort, one can't help acclaiming as the acme of perfection.
