Jietai Temple((Chinese: 戒台寺; pinyin: Jìe tái Sì)),is also called Jietan Temple, is located 35km west of Beijing and only 8km from Tanzhe Temple, built some 1,300 years ago, it is temple of the ordination altar, this altar is nearly 5 meters high and is decorated with delicate and exquisite carvings, it is the largest altar in China. Altar is the place in large temples where religious disciplines were imparted to disciples. The altar was established in the Ming Dynasty and built with white marble. On four sides, lotus petals, drifting clouds and other designs are carved with exquisite work. Around the hall are a number of courtyards containing rock formations and old pine and cypress trees, looking very quiet and serene.
