Jingzhou Museum

Jingzhou Museum is a local historical museum of China.

Jingzhou Museum (Chinese: 荆州博物馆; pinyin: Jǐngzhōu Bó Wù Guǎn) is a local historical museum of China. It is located in Jingzhou City of Hubei Province, covering an area of 46,600 square meters.

Jingzhou Museum is famous for its collection of distinct cultural and archeological relics, boasting a displaying hall and a collection hall with more than 120,000 historical relics, over 200 of which have been listed as national first-grade cultural relics. The most typical items of the museum are ancient bamboo slips, lacquer wares and silk.

Don’t miss the display hall when you visit the museum. Two themed exhibitions are settled in the display hall, one is the Exhibition of Primitive Cultures from the regions of the Yangtze River and the Han River while the other is the Exhibition of the Chu & Han Cultures from the same regions.

Exhibits of the Chu Culture mainly include bronze wares, weapons, lacquer wares and musical instruments. In particular, an important collection of lacquer ware, 2,000-year-old silk garments and fabrics which are featured with exquisite patterns are on show as well as almost perfectly preserved male corpse of a Han-Dynasty official.
