Gaozeng Dong Village (Chinese: 高增侗寨；pinyin: gāozēngdòngzhaì): Gaozeng Dong Village, a settlement of three villages, has a history of more than 600 years with a population of 2,000. Gaozeng was the first village in South-East Guizhou to achieve the status of a "cultural heritage area” because of its long history, traditional architecture and picturesque setting. It is famous for a home of "beautiful girls". The girls' clothing here for festival costumes are the most beautiful among the Dong nationalities and all the silver ornaments that a Dong girl puts on weight more than 10 kg. Dong people regard singing as their life and they think that "Food can preserve one’s body and songs can nourish the heart. Songs can be heard everywhere here.
