Sangding Monastery
|
Sangding Monastery is an unique monastery which has female living Buddha. |
| The Sangding Monastery was built in 1441 AD and has been enlarged into the current size after renovations in all previous dynasties. It belongs to the Bodong Sect of Tibetan Buddhism, with Female Living Buddha Dorje Palma as the abbot of the monastery. The monastery was passed over for 12 generations of the reincarnation system of the female Living Buddha Dorje Palma. The Woshiatongzen religious crown, whose value is difficult to estimate, is consecrated in the monastery. It is said that if one worships and looks at the crown with reverence, he will be freed from all the pains and agonies of before and after lives. Female Living Buddha Dorje Palma is considered to be the incarnation of Indian diamond deity and is respected by her followers. Besides, the Chang, a sorcerer's dance in the monastery, invites people to put their palms together and sing high praises of it. |
