Liang Garden is an excellent example of the type of scholars' park found at Lingnan in the Qing Dynasty and the most famous garden of Guangdong Province. |
Liang Garden (Chinese: 梁园; pinyin: Liángyuán) refers to houses and gardens of Liang clan. It was constructed in a phased manner during the Jiaqing and Daoguang periods of the Qing Dynasty by four local personalities. Unlike other gardens in Foshan, it is an excellent example of the type of scholars' park found at Lingnan in the Qing Dynasty with grand size, exquisite design and elegant style. The scattering houses, ancestral temple and the gardens constitute a variety of pictures which is made Liang Garden as the four famous garden of Guangdong Province besides the Qinghui Garden and other two gardens.
Liang Garden is located at the Xianfeng Ancient Path of Songfeng Road, Foshan Province. Today, the garden is still well preserved, with most of its original artefact displayed in house. The constructions of the garden pursue all kinds of local styles but not only just stick to one pattern. Due to the large number of marvelous stones, Liang Garden was reputed the name of "Alpine Garden". Inside the garden, there are fruit trees, flowers, and waterways covered by pines and willows, making it a unique and picturesque garden in the water-surrounded Lingnan region. By the reason of these, Liang Garden owns lots of beautiful courtyard including the mountain courtyard, water courtyard, stone courtyard and so on. Among of them, the stone courtyard is the most appeal one.
Liang Gargen is not only famous for its elegant style and beautiful sights, it is also well known by its replicas of the calligraphers in all ages. Clean water, wonder stone and famous calligraphy together compose of Liang garden "the three treasures". |
