| Yufeng Monastery, located at the southern foot of Jade Dragon Mountain, is 13km away from Lijiang County. Built in the last years of Emperor Kangxi in Qing Dynasty, the temple is a famous lamasery in Lijiang. Although the temple is small, it is well-known in and abroad because of a camellia. With a history of more than 500 years, this camellia was planted first and then the temple was built later. When spring comes every year, when there are snow still on Jade Dragon Mountain and trunk of plums are still bare, the camellias in Yufeng Temple are blooming already. In summer, when peach blossoms are withered with small peaches on it, the camellias are still blooming. In March, it is the best time for people to watch camellias just like a festival. |
