Meilu Villa
|
Meilu is a Britain’s style villa where Song Meiling and Chiang Kai-shek had spent their life there. |
Meilu (Chinese: 美庐; pinyin: Měi Lú) was established in 1903 by Britain’s Lannoze. The whole building reflects British winding corridors architectural style, and stresses the abstract beautiful rule of the building.
In 1933, Song Meiling bought Meilu villa. Her husband, Chiang Kai-shek, the chairman of KMT and she used it as their summer official residence during the 1930’s and 1940’s. General Chiang would later name the villa "Meilu" after his wife, Song Meiling.
In the first floor of Meilu, cat-eye green rug spreads on the ground and dark green sofa stays beside. The half-length photos of Song Meiling in different times as well as some photos in life of Mr. and Mrs. Chiang Kai-shek. The second floor is setting the office, bedroom and parlor for Chiang Kai-shek. During the meetings of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Mao Zedong lived here.
The scenery there is breathtaking and the lake in the park provides a serene setting where one might become quite philosophical. Visit Meilu, one can experience the life of Song Meiling and Chiang Kai-shek. |
