Yiling Cave(chinese:伊岭岩, pinyin: yīlǐngyán) is located in Wuming county, 25km away from Nanning city. Most local people of Wuming County are Zhuang people. Yiling Cave is called “Gan Gong” in Zhuang dialect, which means that the cave is a splendid1 place just like a grand palace.
Yiling Cave occupies an area of 24,00sqm, and the tour route extends 1100 meters. According to the historical records, Yiling Cave was known by the outside in Song Dynasty, after a Taoist set up a nunnery and cultivated in the cave. In 1973, the cave was restored, and reopened to the public in 1975.
Like many caves in Guangxi, Yiling Cave is a typical Karsts Cave. The cave was originally an underground river and as he climbing of the lithosphere. Gradually it became a cave. Dissolved and eroded by the water for thousands of years, those rocks in the cave appear in various shapes. And the different shapes of stalactites or stalagmites create all the fantastic scenery in the cave.
If you look back after entering the cave mouth, you will find two impressive rock lions standing on the sides, as if they were welcoming you to visit the cave. That is the first scenery in the cave, called “Shuangshi Yingke”(two lions welcoming guests).Walking forward, you will find other scenic spots like “Corridor in the Air”,“ Homeland’s New Appearance”, “Seashore Park11” and so on. In one word, you can see all kinds of beautiful sceneries everywhere inside the cave with your imagination.
Different from Seven-star Cave and Reed Flute Cave, Yiling Cave is famous for its feature of Zhuang nationality.
