Ling Gu Monastery: Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang chose the place to be his mausoleum in 1367. |
| Linggu Monastery or the Soul Valley Monastery(Chinese:灵谷寺;pinyin:línggǔsì) was built in the Liang Dynasty (502-557), one of the Southern Dynasties, and was later relocated from its original location in 1367 as Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang chose the place to be his mausoleum. The temple also serves as a memorial hall for the army service men killed during the early civic war against the Qing Dynasty and warlords, and during the Anti-Japanese War. The presidents of the Republic, Dr. Sun Yat-sen and Chiang Kai-shek (Jiang Jieshi), both left their calligraphies there. One of the most interesting things you need to see is the “Beamless Hall” (Wuliang Hall), constructed in the Ming Dynasty. |
