Xuanwu Lake Park
|
Xuanwu Lake Park is a state-level scenic area in the ancient capital city of Nanjing, collects many places of interests and historical relics. |
| The Xuanwu Lake(Chinese:玄武湖;pinyin:xuánwǔhú) is surrounded by mountains on three sides and is adjacent to the city on one side. The history of Xuanwu Lake can be traced back to the Pre-Qin period (21century BC-221 BC). It was said that there emerged a black dragon during the Liusong Period of the South Dynasty, so the lake was named Xuanwu Lake. The park covers an area of 476 hectares, seventy percent of which is water surface. The lake is dotted with the five green islets of Huanzhou, Yingzhou, Liangzhou, Cuizhou and Lingzhou. Jogging along its lake shore or sitting in a boat with your family or friends, you will see the crumbling ancient city walls, chrysanthemum show, and God Temple. Each island has wonderful scenery: Nuona Tower on Huan Isle is full of special serene ambience. Wumiao Zha on Ling Isle has long history and of a reasonable design. |
