Porcelain Art (Chinese: 美陶; pinyin: Měi Táo) in Foshan is renowned all over the world which is famous for its vivid sculpt and colorful techniques.

China is reputed as the original place of ceramics consisted of two different features porcelain and china. The saying "Shiwan porcelain, Jingde china" summarized China Ceramics' essence well. Shiwan is a town of Foshan Province and the famous hometown of porcelain all over the world. Different from the official kiln, Shiwan kiln is a civilian kiln not only manufacturing the daily porcelains but mass of porcelain arts.

In 1957, the Tang and Song kiln addresses were discovered in Shiwan. Following people reinvestigated the kilns and authenticated that Shiwan kilns were originated in Tang and Song Dynasty. The typical categories of the Shiwan porcelain are in the theme of "fishing, firewood, plowing and reading".

With the development of business and handwork in Foshan, the porcelain art also gains a very fast development. Shiwan porcelain art contacts with the architecture closely. In order to fulfill the need of the ancestral temple and some constructions, the porcelains like flowerpot, fishnet, flower-window and wall are decorated with the porcelains. God of the gate is also one kind of favorable porcelain by the local people when they held the religious activities. Almost the porcelain arts in Foshan develop from the strong usable arts; therefore they own features of practicality.
