Qiandao Lake
|
Studded with a total of 1,078 islands of varying sizes, Qiandao Lake is beautiful and famous for its scenery especially its water so pure that it can be drunk directly. |
Qiandao Lake (Chinese: 千岛湖; pinyin: Qiāndǎo Hú), also known as the Lake of Thousand Islands, is known for its clear, and sometimes, drinkable water, such as that used to produce the renowned Nongfu Spring brand of mineral water.
Qiandao Lake is located in Chun'an County, west of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, formed since the completion of the Xinanjiang hydroelectric station. Covering an area of 573 square kilometers, Qiandao Lake is studded with a total of 1,078 islands of varying sizes.
Nowadays, Qiandao Lake is one of the first-class national scenic spots and is the largest national forest park of housing over 90% lush forestation. In recent years Qiandao Lake has developed over twenty travel sites, having six sections of different features.
Set in the middle of the lake, the Plat Blossom Mountain is the best part of Qiandao Lake, named after five conjoined mountains. It resembles a plat blossom and has gained fame for its beautiful natural scenery and perfect environment. The sight-seeing platform in this section is by far the best place to view the surrounding area.
The Stone Forest including Xishan part, Turquoise part and Hawksbill part is called "the first stone-forest in East China". With strange stones, cliffs, elf caves and an ancient path, it is characterized by an otherworldliness that is hard to find anywhere else.
The Dragon Hill and the Xian Hill also boast charming and beautiful scenery and worth to visit. |
