Three Travelers' Cave

Three Travelers’ Cave is a tourist highlight both because of its approximate to Yichang and the spectacular terrain it is on.

Three Travelers' Cave (Sanyou Cave, Chinese: 三游洞; pinyin: Sānyóudòng) is in the cliffs of the northern Peak of Xiling Mountain, 10 kilometers northwest of Yichang City. From the Three Travelers' Cave, you can get a great view looking down into the gorges as well as the Gezhouba Dam off in the distance.

The cave is about 30 meters deep, 23 meters wide and about 9 meters high. Inside the cave, three main stalagmites divide the cave into two chambers, the front one being spacious and bright and the rear one having a ceiling shaped like a hanging bell. There are three wonders of Three Travelers' Cave: Heavenly Bell, Earth Drum and Side Chime.

Along the wall of the cave there are more than 40 discernible stone tablets caving with poems and prose made from the famous poets. By reason of this, Three Travels' Cave was famous and renowned.

The cave is warm in winter and cool in summer with great mountains, beautiful rivers and charming landscapes, just like a giant painting. Three Travelers' Cave is a tourist highlight both because of its approximate to Yichang and the spectacular terrain it is on.

Near the cave are some tourism spots such as the Yu Spring, also named Jade Spring. It is famous for its clear springs and elegant scenery, being one of the four finest scenic spots of China.
