Shennong Top

Shennongding Top is the highest peak of Shennongjia Natrue Reserve.

Shennong Top (Chinese: 神农顶; pinyin: Shénnóngdǐng) is known as the first peak in central China with a height of 3,105 meters above sea level where trades of ancient floods can still be seen through the mountain top, the slope, the uneven surface, the exposed huge rocks and many pebbles.

On the Shennong Top, clouds often nestle ant the summit where ridges stretch on into the distance. The area is covered by tiers of fir, bamboo, and azalea. The firs, as tall as 40 meters, have dense leaves on branches that block off the sunlight. The azaleas bloom pink and violet in summer. The area is also home to some rare animals including the golden monkey, white bear, giant salamander, spotted deer and antelope and so on.

Peculiar caves in the top often amaze visitors. There is the Swallow Cave that inhabited thousands of swallows, the Tide Cave that floods three times a day, the Icy Cave that is always icy in summers, the Fish Cave that inhabited lots of fish at times of thunder and much more.
