The Sun Island (Chinese: 太阳岛, Pinyin: Tàiyángdǎo)It is the recreational center for the people of Harbin. They come here to enjoy the sun during summer. When winter comes, the river freezes solid. Ice-skating becomes the rage.

Located on the northern shore of Songhua River in downtown Harbin, opposite to the urban screened by the river, the Sun Island is a 38-square –km land and covered with sand dunes. Accompanied by the attractive landscapes all over the year, it is a famous scenic spot and a good recuperation place in Chinese north regions. In summer it is a well-known holidaymaking resort, while in winter it puts on a magnificent look. The island is the site of an international snow carving competition, which takes place ever January.

There are more than 300,000 trees overall island. In spring and autumn, all the green will fill in your eyes, the Sun Mountain is also green everywhere, which often attracts people to climb the mountain and share the beautiful "Forest Bath".

The youth's family is also called "the happy village", inside there are children's palace, stadium etc., providing a good entertainment place for children and adults.
