Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall(chinese: 中山纪念堂, Pinyin: Zhōngshān jìniàntáng) is a memorial building built in 1931 in memory of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, the great forerunner of Chinese revolution for he had upset the corrupt empire of Qing Dynasty and established a brand new era for Chinese. The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall located in the Dongfeng Zhong Road of Yuexiu District, is an octagonal building with grand presence, featuring a strong Chinese style.
When first inaugurated, the memorial hall was primarily used for exhibiting Dr. Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary artifacts, and hosted some of the exhibitions and performances. Nowadays, it serves as a multifunctional, social educational and cultural center. It houses the internationally renowned national performance hall, expansive elegant and esthetic exhibition venues measuring in several tens of thousand square feet, projecting room with innovative setup, audiovisual center, lecture hall, Chung Shan lecture hall, professional library with more than 300,000 collections of books, as well as the tranquil and titillating Emerald Pond exhibition. The hall also serves for absorbing new knowledge and in recreational leisure.
