Emin Minaret is the largest extant old tower in Xinjiang and it is the only Islamic tower among the hundreds of famous towers in China.

| (Chinese: 额敏塔;pinyin: émǐntǎ): Emin Minaret is the largest extant old tower in Xinjiang and it is the only Islamic tower among the hundreds of famous towers in China. It was built in 1181 of the Hui calendar (1779) by Su Laiman II, the ruler of the Turpan Prefecture, to honor his father. It is a typical pagoda of Islamic characteristics and has a cylinder body made of sun-dried yellow bricks standing 37 meters high. The pagoda's body contains carvings of 15 kinds of patterns of Uygur traditional design. There are a total of 14 windows at various directions and levels. The pagoda displays the typical features of Uygur architecture. |
