Turpan Grape Valley is a surprisingly attractive desert oasis with vines and trellises bulging with grapes.
(Chinese: 葡萄沟；pinyin: pútáogōu): Turpan Grape Valley is a surprisingly attractive desert oasis with vines and trellises bulging with grapes. It is 8 km (5 miles) long and 500 m (0.3 miles) wide, and on both side of the valley are covered with different kinds of thick trees. Waters from springs flow into channels irrigating 210 hectare grape garden. Taking a walk along the grape corridor, you will find drying rooms on nearby slopes. Every year over 300 tons of raisins are made here.
