Taohuayuan

Taohuayuan is a fairyland on earth described in the famous writer Tao Yuanming’s “Accounts of Taohuayuan”.

Taohuayuan (Chinese: 桃花源; pinyin: Táohuāyuán), the fairyland on earth described in the famous Jin writer Tao Yuanming’s “Accounts of Taohuayuan”, is in Taoyuan County under the jurisdiction of Changde, Hunan Province.

Taohuayuan is actually a world of peach orchards, which looks unusually beautiful when peach flowers are abloom. Despite of the peaches’ anthesis, the Taohuayuan is also with beautiful and gorgeous sights.

Being an extraordinary geographical location, it is adjacent to Wuling on the south and Yuanjiang River on the north. The beauty of Dongting Lake, the grace of Xiaoxiang (Hunan Province), the wonderful views of the Wuxi Lake and the scenery of Wuling all rolled into one. The main scenic spots include the Peach Hill, the Taoyuan Hill, the Qin People’s Village and Taoxian Range with marvelous stones, crystal streams, green hills and colorful flowers and so on.

In addition, Taohuayuan is also renowned by home and abroad for the popularity of its temples and tablets. Here you can find the stream along which the Wuling fisherman walked to the end of the woods; you can see the garden where Tao Yuanming collected camomiles and drank leisurely; you can see the Yuxianqiao Bridge where Wangzhi was so absorbed in watching a chess game; you can see the shrine built for the wit and wisdom who are deceased; you can see the TaohuaTaoist Temple in ancient styles, as well as the Qin People’s Village where they retired from war chaos and even did not know what happened outside.
