The former name of Mt. Tianzi was Qingyan Mountain. It came from the legend that at the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, the leader of Tujia nationality Xiang Dakun launched the uprising here and was called himself “Tianzi”, which means the Heaven’s son. Therefore, the mountain got its name as “Mt. Tianzi”.
Mt. Tianzi is dotted with nearly 100 natural platforms for sightseeing, more than 2000 stone peaks and dozens of waterfalls and springs. The sea of clouds, the wavelike stone ranges, the snowscape in the winter and the sunrise are the most spectacular. To sum up, the landscape in Tianzi Mountain is natural and primeval.
