Wang’s Village (Chinese: 王村; pinyin: Wáng Cūn) is an old village with a history of two thousand years. Used to be controlled by Xiyang County, the village was called Xiyangxiongzhen at that time. However in nowadays, Wang’s Village is well-known as Furong Town as it is the place for the shooting of famous film “Furongzhen”.
Wang’s Village is in the north bank of the west water, most of the people there are of the Tujia ethnic group. The Tujia special buildings are scattered along the mountainside, overlapped if you see from far, and it goes to the half way of the mountain, and formed a 5 Li (2.5 kilometers) of Long Street. The street road is covered by stone slabs, and the ages washed them to leave a cold shining surface.
The specialty of the scenery attracts artists, all the exterior sceneries of the film “Furongzhen” is taken from here. Furongzhen becomes famous, and Wang’s Village followed the film and is known to many people now.
The local holiday–“Shebajie Holiday” with Tujia people is very interesting. “Diaonian Holiday”, “June 6” day must offer you a different scene. When night falls, fisherman’s lights are anywhere on the river and you should not miss the colorful nationality shows. In addition, you can join them for hand waving dancing, Maogusi dancing, and taste the original “Daliuzi”, “weeping for marriage”. All of these can bring you to learn the profundity of the culture of Tujia Minority.
