Langmusi County
|
It is a quiet, picturesque Tibetan village in the remote mountain. |
| Remarkable for its unhurried pace, the remote mountain town of Langmusi (Chinese: 郎木寺;pinyin: lǎngmùsì) is inhabited by a mix of Tibetan, Hui, and Han Chinese. Langmusi has two monasteries located on the border of Sichuan and Gansu Provinces. Sezhi Monastery is in Sichuan Province and Geerdeng Monastery in Gansu Province. Built in 1413, this monastery is the place of worship for several hundred monks, who study astrology and medicine, apart from Tibetan Buddhist theology. Traditional sky-burials, where the dead are left for birds of prey, also take place here. |
