Yabuli Ski Resort or Yabuli Skiing Ground(Chinese:亚布力滑雪场;pinyin:yàbùlì huáxuěchǎng),195 km to the southeast of Harbin, is the biggest and best ski resort in China, also was the venue for the skiing events of the 1996 Asian Winter Games.It features a 3.080-meter-long alpine skiing lane with an average drop of 884 meters and an average gradient of 22.6 degrees. There are also facilities for ski jumping and cross-country skiing. The ski resort includes two distinctive areas: the competitive section and the leisure skiing section. In the leisure skiing section, the highest altitude is only about 1,000 meters (approx. 3,281 feet), and the area provides a comparatively safe environment for leisure skiing. Because of the high elevation, snow falls for a long period of about 170 days. The period from November to late March of the next year is the best time to ski at Yabuli Ski Resort.
