Yangshuo(chin. 阳朔, Pinyin: Yángshuó) is located 65kilometers to the south of Guilin. With a population about 300,000, this place ranks as the number one tourism county of china. It is home to Zhuang, Yao, Miao and eight other minority groups what makes a stay very special. Yangshuo is famous as a place to relax in a relatively hassle free, peaceful, beautiful environment. You can walk to any where in ten minutes, and two of the roads are almost nothing but guesthouses, souvenir shops, and western style resturants. every other building is a hotel, and the downtown section is a series of pedestrian-only streets, hostels and cafes. The west street is all flanked by small shops and vendor’s stands selling all kinds of souvenirs and snacks. And in Yangshuo there is no shortage of western food, English menus, English speaking staff, western music, and western movies. Most of the businesses are geared towards budget travelers, but just ride five minutes out of town on a bicycle and verdant rice paddies, limestone pinnacles, and tiny rural hamlets await and all of the western oriented businesses are quickly forgotten.
