Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Guangzhou City Tour (-, L, D)
Today morning you will be met in the airport or hotel in Guangzhou, take a city tour to visit Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, which was built by the local people of Guangzhou and overseas Chinese to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the great forerunner of Chinese democratic revolution. Now it is a major site for big conference and performance.
Then, visit the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees, which was honored as one of ten most beautiful tourist attactions in Guangzhou in 1997 and is famous for its Flower Pagoda. The Flower Pagoda appears to have only 9 stories outside, but it actually has 17 stories inside, with a height of 57 m.
After that, have a rest and go on to visit the Five-Ram Sculpture which has become the emblem of Guangzhou City, located in the Yuexiu Park at the city center. The Five-Ram Sculpture has a profound history and it means happiness and good luck for Guangzhou people. Yuexiu park is the biggest park in Guangzhou, covering 93 hectares.
Finally, you will visit the Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family, which is a place both for offering up sacrifices to ancestors and for study. It enjoys "a gem in the architecture field in Lingnan Region." The rest of your day is yours to relax.
Day 2: Foshan City Tour (B, L, -)
Today we will have an excursion to Foshan, 20 km from Guangzhou, the home of Cantonese operas, Chinese ceramic arts, martial arts, and cate.
Firstly we will go to Shiwan, in the southwest of Foshan with 5000-year-long ceramic making history. It won the high prestige of the "Capital of Ceramic in South China." You can see the spectacular Porcelain Art here and then move to the Foshan Zumiao (Ancestral) Temple, a Daoist temple first built in the Song Dynasty (960 A.D. - 1279 A.D.). It integrates ancient clay and limestone sculpture, wood and brick carvings, foundry and architectural arts as a whole.
On the way, have a rest and enjoy the variety of beautiful paper cutting; you will comprehend that why paper cutting is considered the best artistic treasure to represent Foshan folk culture.
