Day by Day Itinerary:

Day 1: Chengde Mountain Resort (-, L, D)

Today, your tour guide will take you to Chengde Mountain Resort from Beijing, about 4 hours drive. You will enjoy the excursion to the Chengde Mountain Resort. It is the largest imperial garden in China with numerous palaces, wonderful scenery and a pleasant climate. Emperors of the Qing Dynasty lived here with their concubines and ministers during the summer time. Temples of various architectural styles and imperial gardens blend harmoniously into a landscape of lakes, pastureland and forests.

Day 2 : Eight Outer Temples, Temple of Potaraka Doctrine, Puning Temple (B, L, D)

Today your trip starts with visiting the Eight Outer Temples, which is a collective name given to 12 brilliant and golden temples built in succession.

Firstly you will visit the Temple of Potaraka Doctrine that is the largest and the most magnificent temple of the Eight Outer Temples and it also enjoys the name of "Little Potala Palace" since it imitated the Potala Palace built a century ago in Tibet.

Then visit the Puning Temple (Temple of Universal Peace) which was built in 1755 to commemorate the Qing Dynasty victory over a troublesome Mongolian force and was modeled after the Samye Monastery, the sacred Lamaist site in Tibet. It houses the world's tallest wooden sculpture of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara (22.28-meter-high and 110-ton). Later you will be driven to the Mulan Hunting Ground (10 minutes), located in the north of Chengde, which used to open to be the imperial hunting ground in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1901 A.D.). Stay there overnight.

Day 3 : Luan River, Inner Mongolia (B, L, D)

Today you will cross the Border River of Hebei province and Inner Mongolia, Luan River, and go to see the fountainhead of Luan River. After that, you can enjoy the marvelous scenery of the vast grassland.

Later you will visit the Wulanbutong Ancient Battlefield, an ideal place to enjoy grassland, forest landscape, pasturing customs and ancient culture. If you like, you can rise horse and drift (payable locally). When you finish the trip, you will enjoy your meal and go back to Chengde by car.

Day 4 : Chengde Qingchuifeng Peak, Eastern Qing Tombs (B, L, D)

After breakfast, you will go to take round-way cable car to the Qingchuifeng Peak which is also called "Wooden Club Peak" because its shape is like a club laundry woman used to beat clothes. From the top of the peak you can have a bird's eye view of the small Chengde City. After lunch, you will proceed to Qingdongling (Eastern Qing Tombs ), which are among the finest and largest extant Mausoleum complexes in China, in Zunhua (about 100km) and stay at Zunhua overnight.

Day 5 :Eastern Qing Tombs (B, L, -)

Today you will enjoy the Eastern Qing Tombs (Qingdongling) which are the sacred burial grounds of Qing emperors, empresses and imperial concubines. The construction of the tombs was begun in the second year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi (1663) and the main tombs housing as it does 5 emperors and 1 emperess. In addition, four tombs containing the remains of 136 imperial concubines and one tombs for princesses are also located here. The tour will start with a visit to the Xiaoling Tomb. Of all the tombs, Xiaoling is the biggest and most elaborate, standing as the focal point of the entire structure. Yuling Tomb for the Qianlong Emperor is reputed as the treasure house of stone carvings. Xiangfei Tomb is full of mysteries. The tomb of Empress Dowager Cixi is unique and decorated with gold. All these tombs can fulfill your appetite of ancient Chinese culture.

And you will return to Beijing after lunch.
