Get a good memory and learn more about history by visiting Hengshan Mountain, which ranks the first among the five sacred mountains in China, Nanyue Temple, which is the largest group of ancient buildings in Hunan Province, Chairman Mao’s Residence as well as Yuelu Academy of Classical Education.
Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Zhangjiajie (-, L, -)
Upon your arrival in Changsha, our guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. Relax yourself to recover from the jet lag.
Day 2: Hengshan Mountain (B, L, -)
Today you will travel to Hengshan Mountain. After your breakfast, you will take a 3 hours drive there. After arrival in the Hengshan Mountain, you will firstly visit the Magu Fairyland which is the best place famous for plenty negative ion. In view of this, you will feel comfortable, clear and bright, just like flying there.
Near the Magu Fairyland is the Lingzhi Spring, where the scenery is enchanting and the mountains are beautiful. The water of the Lingzhi Spring is crystal clear as well as cool. The most famous swimming pool is under the Lingzhi Spring.
Later you will go straight to the summit of Hengshan Mountain—Zhurong Peak. The Zhurong Palace on the top of the peak is very splendid. Due to the heavy wind all through the year on the top, the wall of the palace is built with granite while the roof is iron tile. The whole palace looks towery and magnific.
Then, you will visit one of the oldest temples, the Shangfeng Temple, which is called as the 22nd fairyland by Taoist.
After that you will visit the South Gate of Heaven, the big welcome pine tree, Nanyue Temple and the ancient street. The South Gate of Heaven stands on the top of the mountain, the stone torii and the letter on the gate is splendid and unique. The welcome pine tree is different from those in Yellow Mountain.
Day 3: Nanyue Temple (B, L, D)
In the morning you will travel to Nanyue Temple. After your breakfast, you will take a 3 hours drive to Nanyue Temple which is the largest group of ancient buildings in Hunan Province, covering an area of 100,000 square meters. There are nine courtyards, with the main hall at the center, at 22 m high and supported by 72 stone pillars in tribute to the mountain's peaks. The temple, glazed in red and yellow, is linked with many other buildings and forms a grand palace complex. After that, drive to Shaoshan, the hometown of Chairman Mao in the afternoon.
Day 4: Shaoshan, Dishui Cave, Chairman Mao's Residence (B, L, D)
Today you will visit the Villadom of Chairman Mao after your breakfast. Chairman Mao had lived in Dishui Cave for 11 days; hence the place is very famous now. In fact, the scenery in Dishui Cave is very beautiful with a stream flowing through it.
Later you will visit Chairman Mao's Residence. Chariman Mao had spent his childhood, youth, attending school and helping his mother with work there. Visiting there can make you feel closer to the great and famous person—Mao Zedong. Then back to Changsha after finishing the trip.
Day 5: Changsha Incity Tour (B, -, -)
Today you will begin your trip with a visit to the famous museum—Mawangdui Han Tombs. You will receive a lot of surprises in the museum as well as knowledge about the culture of Han Dynasty. The three tombs preserved in the museum are very grand and complicated as well. Besides, among these more than 3,000 relics have been unearthed from the three tombs, the most famous is silk products, paintings, map, bamboo slips and so on.
After visiting the Mawangdui Museum, you will excurse to the Yuelu Academy of Classical Education, one of the four most prestigious academies over the last 1000 years in China. Nowadays, the academy is a center of publication and research of the ancient Chinese language as well as one of the most important academic and cultural centers in China.
When finish today's trip, our guide will transfer you to the airport and see you off.
