Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Shanghai, The Bund, Nanjing Road (-, L, -)
Upon arrival in Shanghai, your tour guide will meet you at Shanghai Airport and transfer you to your hotel by private car. Shanghai is the largest city in China in terms of population and is located on China's central eastern coast at the mouth of the Yangtze River.
You will start your tour in Shanghai with a visit to the Bund, also called the Zhongshan Road, which is a famous waterfront and regarded as the symbol of Shanghai for hundreds of years. It winds a 1500 m length. The most famous and attractive sights are the 52 various European-style buildings of different architectural styles including Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classicism and the Renaissance at the west side of the Bund.
Then you walk along Nanjing Road which has been a centre of commerce in Shanghai for more than a century. It is 3.4-mile-long and starts at the Bund in the east and ends in the west to People's Square. Then you will be driven back to your hotel.
Day 2: Yuyuan Garden, Shanghai Museum, Jin Mao Tower (-, L, -)
Today you will first take a stroll through the Yuyuan Garden, located in the center of the Old Shanghai City, is considered one of the most lavish and finest Chinese gardens in the region. The pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters all have unique characteristics in the garden.
Later you will proceed to Shanghai Museum, located in the center of Shanghai in People's Square. It is a large museum of ancient Chinese art and possesses a collection of 120,000 precious works of art, including bronze, ceramics, calligraphy, furniture, jades, ancient coins, paintings, seals, sculptures, minority art and foreign art.
Finally you move to Jin Mao Tower which is an 88-storey (420.5 m, almost 1380 ft tall) landmark supertall skyscraper in the Lujiazui area of the Pudong. It is the fourth tallest building of the world and the second tallest building in China. Two direct elevators operate at the speed of 9.1 m per second that can take visitors from the ground floor to the 88th floor in only 45 seconds. Stay at Shanghai overnight.
Day 3: Oriental Pearl Tower (-, L, D)
Today you will proceed to the Oriental Pearl Tower by the side of Huangpu River. At 468 m (1,535 feet) high, it is the tallest completed tower in Asia, and the third tallest tower in the world. Visitors can travel up and down the tower in double-decker elevators. The view of Shanghai from this height fills you with wonder at the beauty that surrounds you.
Then you will be transferred to the railway station to take the train to Nanjing, the Capital City of Six or Ten Dynasties in China's history, which takes more than 2 hours. Upon arrival Nanjing, you will be met at Nanjing railway station by your tour guide and transferred to your hotel by the private car. The rest of the day is yours to relax, or step out into this beautiful city for an adventure on your own. Stay at Nanjin g overnight.
Day 4: Nanjing City Tour (-, L, D)
After your breakfast in the morning, your trip in Nanjing starts from the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, located in the Zhong Mountain Scenic Area in the east suburb of Nanjing City. As the mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the father of the Republic of China, it is considered the Holy land of Chinese people both home and abroad. It has deep historical significance, magnificent architecture and beautiful scenery.
Then you proceed to Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge which is the first bridge to be built across the Yangtze River in Nanjing and the first double-decker, double-track highway and railway bridge designed and constructed by the Chinese without outside engineering assistance.
Afterwards, you move to Nanjing City Wall that was designed and established in Ming Dynasty when Nanjing as the capital 600 years ago.
Then visit Zhonghua Gate (Chinese Gate), the south gate of Nanjing City. It has the double distinction of being the biggest castle-style city gate in China and a structural element of the most complicated castle in the world. Confucius Temple, located on the bank of the Qinhuai River, was originally constructed in the year of 1034 in the Song Dynasty and is a place to worship and consecrate Confucius, the great philosopher and educator of ancient China.
Finally you go to Qinhuai River, a branch of the great Yangtze River in the southwest of the city. The river used to be the most flourishing part of Nanjing in the old days, and nowadays, it is a place for people to recall the old splendor of this historical city. Stay at Nanjing overnight.
Day 5: Back to Shanghai, Departure from Shanghai (-, -, -)
After your breakfast, you will be transferred to the Hangzhou raiway station to return Shanghai by train. Then your personal guide escorts you to the Shanghai airport for your flight to your next destination.
