Tour Features: This tour will take you to many remote but interesting places in Sichuan Province. You can enjoy the amazing sceneries: cloud seas, high mountain grasslands, herds of sheep and cattle, fantastic springs, lakes, primeval forests, azalea forest, precipitous peaks, and grotesque rocks.
Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Chengdu (-, -, -)
Upon arrival in Chengdu, your tour guide will meet you at Chengdu Airport and transfer you to your hotel by private car. The rest of the day is yours to relax, or step out into this amazing city for an adventure on your own.
Day 2: Mt. Siguniangshan (Four Maiden's Mountain), Danba (B, L, D)
After breakfast, you will leave for Mt. Siguniangshan, which is praised as the Oriental Alps and precipitous and magnificent, with its peaks covered with snow all the year round. After driving over the Balang Mountain, you will get to Mt. Siguniangshan. On the way, you can enjoy the amazing scenery: cloud seas, high mountain grasslands and herds of sheep and cattle. Watch the Mt. Siguniangshan in the distance, and its beautiful scenery can be seen behind cloud seas from time to time.
In the afternoon, you will reach Danba, a small county in the mountain valley whose residents are Gyarong Tibetans, and enjoy Shuopo Watertowers. Danba is famous of "Thousand stone castle kingdom", with many kinds of old stone castles scattered over the county, built as early as 1700 BC. There used to be 5,000 watchtowers in Danba, but only 343 remain, that mostly date back 200 to 1,000 years. The height of watchtower from 16-35 m, standing on hillsides or the top of hills. The materials are stone slabs for the walls, stone blocks for the foundations. Stay at Danba overnight.
Day 3: Donggu Scenic Spot, Bamei-Tagong Grassland, Xinduqiao (B, L, D)
You will leave Danba after breakfast. At first, you will go to Donggu Scenic Spot (the Natural Bonsai Valley), 21 km to the southwest of Danba County. In the valley, the clear Yak River flows through and numerous varieties of plants are well-preserved and the lush and damp forests make it hard to view the sky. Many lakes and hot-water pools at the bottom of the valley create a world of steam.
Then you will go to Bamei and Lhagang (Tagong) Grassland to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery of boundless grassland and herds of sheep and cattle.
After your simple lunch and a short rest, in the afternoon, you will visit Tagong Temple, built in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) to commemorate the Han Princess Wencheng on her journey from ancient China to Tibet in the early Tang Dynasty. It is also named as "the Small Lhasa Jokhang Monastery" and is distinctive for its four towers painted green, red, yellow, and white respectively.
Finally, you will get to a small town named Xinduqiao, 83 km west of Kangding, which is renowned as "the paradise of photographers". It features plateau pasture scenery of rolling chain of mountains, river valleys dotted with poplars, grassland, Tibetan villages. Stay at Xinduqiao overnight.
Day 4: Xinduqiao, Kangding, Mugecuo (Wild Man Lake) Scenic Area (B, L, D)
After breakfast, you can enjoy the picturesque view of small bridges, running streams and local Zang minority houses. Then you will leave for the grand snow mountain--Zheduo Mountain (4298 m), the second step of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
After lunch in Kangding, in the afternoon, you will move to Mugecuo (Wild Man Lake) Scenic Area, in the northern part of Kangding County. Mugecuo Scenic Area boasts of fantastic springs, lakes, primeval forests, azalea forest, precipitous peaks, and grotesque rocks of Guanmen Rock Scenic Area.
Then you will be driven to Kangding. Stay at Kangding overnight.
Day 5: Luding (B, L, -)
After breakfast, you will leave for Luding Bridge over the Dadu River, comprising 13 iron chains spanned by wooden planks, was built in 1705 to improve transportation through the region. It became a national icon in May 1935 due to an incident during the Long March.
Then you will return to Chengdu and your personal guide will escort you to Chengdu Airport for your flight to your next destination.
