Siguniangshan, Hailuogou National Glacier Forest Park, and Xinduqiao which is known as the paradise of photographers; but also know about local people's lifestyle by visiting Taoping Qiang Village and Danba, a small county in the mountain valley whose residents are Gyarong Tibetans.
Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Chengdu (-, -, -)
Upon arrival in Chengdu, your tour guide will meet you at Chengdu Airport and transfer you to your hotel by private car. The rest of the day is yours to relax, or step out into this amazing city for an adventure on your own.
Day 2: Miyaluo Scenic Spot, Taoping Qiang Village (B, L, -)
In the morning, you will set off from Chengdu to Miyaluo (263 km away from Chengdu). Miyaluo Scenic Spot is one of the biggest areas with red leaves and autumn is the most beautiful season of it.
Then, visit Taoping Qiang Village. It is also named as "the Mystic Oriental Ancient Castel" and is completely preserves the characters of old civilian residence of Qiang Minority. The village was built per Taoist design with 8 gates and 31 interconnected maze-like subways leading to each household.
Afterwards, you will move to Maerkang County, 395 km away from Chengdu. Stay at Maerkang overnight.
Day 3: Mt. Siguniangshan, Two-Bridge (Shuangqiao) Valley (B, L, D)
After breakfast, you will leave for Mt. Siguniangshan (Four Maiden's Mountain). It is praised as the Oriental Alps, is precipitous and magnificent, with its peaks covered with snow all the year round.
You will visit Two-Bridge (Shuangqiao) Valley, which is the most easily accessible valley with vistas of snowy peaks, pastures, grassland and forests. It is the most beautiful valley of Mt. Siguniangshan with three sections covering an area of 216.6 sq km (about 83.6 square miles) after lunch. Stay at Rilong Hotel in Mt. Siguniangshan.
Day 4: Long-Peace (Changping) Valley, Danba (B, L, D)
You will continue your tour to Mt. Siguniangshan and you will visit Long-Peace (Changping) Valley, which is long with gently sloping sides. In this valley, visitors enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. The old cypress path, the Lama Temple, the dry lakes and the waterfalls are peaceful and secluded.
After that, you will be driven to Danba, a small county in the mountain valley whose residents are Gyarong Tibetans, and enjoy Shuopo Watertowers. It is famous of "Thousand stone castle kingdom", with many kinds of old stone castles scattered over the county, built as early as 1700 BC. There used to be 5,000 watchtowers in Danba, but only 343 remain, that mostly date back 200 to 1,000 years. The height of watchtower from 16-35 m, standing on hillsides or the top of hills. The materials are stone slabs for the walls, stone blocks for the foundations. Stay at Danba overnight.
Day 5: Xinduqiao, Donggu Scenic Spot, Lhagang (Tagong) Grassland, Tagong Temple (B, L, -)
You will leave for Xinduqiao after breakfast. Xinduqiao, a small town 83 km west of Kangding, is renowned as "the paradise of photographers". It features plateau pasture scenery of rolling chain of mountains, river valleys dotted with poplars, grassland, Tibetan villages.
On the way, you will enjoy Donggu Scenic Spot (the Natural Bonsai Valley), 21 km to the southwest of Danba County. In the valley, the clear Yak River flows through and numerous varieties of plants are well-preserved and the lush and damp forests make it hard to view the sky. Many lakes and hot-water pools at the bottom of the valley create a world of steam.
Then you will visit the renowned Lhagang (Tagong) Grassland to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery of boundless grassland and herds of sheep and cattle.
Tagong Temple was built in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) to commemorate the Han Princess Wencheng on her journey from ancient China to Tibet in the early Tang Dynasty. It is also named as "the Small Lhasa Jokhang Monastery" and is distinctive for its four towers painted green, red, yellow, and white respectively.
Finally, you will arrive in Kangding and stay at Kangding overnight.
Day 6: Hailuogou National Glacier Forest Park, Gongga Hotspring Resort (B, L, -)
After breakfast, you will leave for Hailuo Gou (Conch Valley). You will have a full-day tour to Hailuogou, the biggest glacier park in China, after breakfast. Upon arrival in there, you will take a sightseeing bus into the Hailuogou National Glacier Forest Park.
Firstly, you will stop at Camp No.3. Then you will take the longest cable car span through the glacier area to Camp No.4. On the way, you can have continuous view of the primeval forest, Grand Glacier Cascade, and sunshine on the top of the snow-capped mountain.
Then you will return to Camp No.3 and take the sightseeing bus to leave Hailuogou. On the way out, when the bus reaches Camp No.2 or Gongga Hotspring Resort, you can get off the bus and enjoy yourself in the hotspring. Then you will return to Moxi County and stay there overnight.
Day 7: Departure (B, -, -)
You will leave for Chengdu after breakfast and be transferred to the airport or train station for your next destination.
