Tour Features: This tour covers the most famous and picturesque sceneries in Sichuan Province, thus makes it an excellent tour, including Yellow Dragon (Huanglong) Scenic Area, Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic Area, Dufu's Thatched Cottage, Leshan Giant Buddha, and Mount Emei. It is not only a scenic-spot tour, but also a cultural and historical tour.
Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Chengdu (-, -, -)
Upon arrival in Chengdu, your tour guide will meet you at Chengdu Airport and transfer you to your hotel by private car. The rest of the day is yours to relax, or step out into this amazing city for an adventure on your own.
Day 2: Huanglong Scenic Area (B, L, -)
Today you will fly to Jiuhuang Airport (about 45 minutes). Then you will be driven to Huanglong Scenic Area, 'Fairy Land on Earth', about 130 km from Jiuzhaigou and it takes almost 3 hours driving. It is famous for snow-capped peaks, virgin forest, spectacular limestone formations, waterfalls and hot springs. The accumulated travertine landscapes and fascinating pools are Huanglong's main attractions.
Firstly you will enjoy Yingbin (welcoming guests) Ponds, a group of exquisite, crystal clear ponds, which have different sizes, and scatter in proper orders. Those ponds are as smooth as mirrors and in good days, the reflections of sun, mountains and trees in the ponds are very colorful.
Afterwards, visit Xishen Cave, which once was an outlet of ancient glacier hundreds of millions of years ago. The entrance is 1 m high and 1.5 m wide with yellow and white stalactites, and the depth is unknown.
Then you will go to Huanglong Cave, with different kinds of stalactites and stalagmites. It is the largest travertine cave in China and a natural ice cave with the longest frozen period in China. The flowing water appears as golden ripples dazzling in the sun. Known to the locals as “Golden Sand on Earth” and the Huanglong travertine bank is the largest and most magnificent in the world.
After the tour, you will be driven back to Jiuzhaigou Valley and stay there overnight.
Day 3: Jiuzhaigou Valley (B, L, D)
After breakfast, you will have a full day tour to the fantastic view of the fairyland-Jiuzhaigou Valley and it starts with a visit to Rize Valley, which contains the largest variety of sites. You will enjoy the Primeval Forest, a preserved ancient woodland with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and cliffs in front of it.
Then you will go to Swan Lake, a picturesque lake named for its visiting swans and ducks, and Grass Lake, a shallow lake covered in intricate vegetation patterns.
After that, visit Panda Lake which features curious color patterns of blue and green and Pearl Shoal which is a wide, gently sloping area of active calcareous tufa deposition covered in a thin sheet of flowing water.
Then you will move to Zechawa Valley and enjoy Long Lake, the highest, largest and deepest lake in Jiuzhaigou, measuring 7.5 km in length and up to 103 m in depth. Five-Color Pool is one of the smallest but most spectacular bodies of water in Jiuzhaigou lakes.
Finally you will go to Nuorilang Waterfalls in Shuzheng Valley. They are 20 m high and 320 m wide and reportedly the widest highland waterfall in China, and one of the symbols of Jiuzhaigou.
Stay at Jiuzhaigou Valley overnight. In the evening you will see the Qiang and Zang minority groups performance and enjoy their different culture and customs after supper.
Day 4: Dufu's Thatched Cottage (B, L, -)
You will fly back to Chengdu after breakfast and upon arrival in Chengdu, your tour guide will meet you at Chengdu Airport and transfer you to your hotel by private car.
After a short rest, you will visit Dufu's Thatched Cottage. It is an idyllic 24-acre park and museum in honour of the most celebrated Tang Dynasty poet, Du Fu. The Museum is the sacred land of poetry and a national treasure.
Then visit the local tea garden to enjoy the local tea culture. Stay at Chengdu overnight.
Day 5: Leshan Giant Buddha (B, L, -)
After breakfast, you will be driven to Leshan City, 154 km (96 miles) from Chengdu.
Firstly, you will visit Leshan Giant Buddha, which is the largest carved stone Buddha in the world and is featured in poetry, song and story. It is also known as Lingyun Giant Buddha.
Afterwards, go to
Lingyun Temple at the right back of the giant Buddha's head, initially built in the Tang Dynasty and rebuilt in the early years of the Qing Dynasty. Then you will walk on the Nine Turns Staircase, which is a steep, narrow set of steps down to the toes of the Buddha. You can really appreicate his huge 8 m (26 ft) feet.
After lunch, you will be transferred to Mount Emei, one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China (about 10 km from Leshan). Stay at Mount Emei overnight.
Day 6: Mount Emei (B, -, -)
After breakfast, you will go to Golden Summit (Jin Ding), with an elevation of over 3,000 meters above sea level, by cable car and enjoy the splendid view of Emei Mountain.
In the afternoon, you will descend by cable car and visit Wannian Temple, the oldest surviving building on Emei which dates to 1611. It towers a bronze statue of Samantabhadra or Puxian riding an elephant which was cast during the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
Then, visit Qingyin Pavilion, built in Tang Dynasty (877 A.D.), sets in lowland forest at the junction of two streams.
Afterwards, you will go to Yixiantian Gorge, a narrow part between two huge steep mountains. When you look up, the sky seems to be a line.
Finally, you will go to the largest wild monkey natural reserve.
After the tour, you will be driven back to Chengdu.
